- Appeal all you want, but if the law says the minimum sentence for this type of crime is 20 yrs then appeals will do no good. Get the law changed if you don't like it.

- Guilty because the jury decided so. I think they had access to way more information than the posters here. 20 years because a tough on crime legislature made this the only sentence that could be given. This is what mandatory sentencing does.

- Actually, the feds are more effective on immigration than Arpaio. Immigration is way down and deportation up, moreso elsewhere than in Arizona. But even if he was effective at managing immigration that still doesn't excuse being racially biased in how justice is handled in the county.

- I think you need to read the Constitution. The government can not take away your civil rights, and I don't think you want them to. And a big part of what the Sheriff is accused of is bias against people who were being civil, just the same color as illegals.

- So if the feds won't enforce the immigration law how is it that deportations are at an all time high? What would immigration law enforcement look like to you if not deporting illegals?

- Not true. Excepting corporations, every last Republican is a human being, most with a caring heart, and due the same respect any human being deserves. Blaming a whole group for the wrongdoings of a few is just wrong. Same whether you're speaking of hispanics or Republicans.

- Isolationism became impractical for any world sometime during the 1930s. Get over it. What do you think happens if the Russians decide to lob a missle against Berlin or Paris? By treaty we treat it as an attack on the US. It became our fight we we won WWII.
